On the original Xbox, people got banned for installing EvoX dashboard or using Slayer's BootCD or similar to install third party dashboards if they added any files to the C drive, it was safe to install the dash or additional apps to the E, F or G drives however but before everyone started upgrading the hard drive sizes a lot of people installed to the C drive and had their consoles banned from Xbox Live.

It may be different but MS still have the ability to scan your hard drive when you are connected to Xbox Live and can therefore see if you have a file which is obviously named different to any file should be on there. But really I just need to know if I have to connect in order to select these pics or if something isn't working as it should be.

So I didn't get banned just because they liked me or something?

I never took my media box online once installed so no comment there, a friend swapped our eproms cos his box did though with EvoX. With picture packs and such, Ive done alot and no hassle yet, Im sure they wouldnt give a damn. I doubt they "have the ability to scan you HDD" but irregular files are probably flagged within their systems.

I assume like me you did NOT install it to your C drive or you did not go on Xbox Live gaming, I have not experienced the issue myself with the ban, but have read quite a bit about it, certain files are found on your hard drive which should not be there and the console is banned. If you really want I will find a discussion about it, but I don't think it really matters at this stage.

Throwback seems to understand my concern with his comment about "If you keep a file like that on your hard drive and leave it there, youre asking for a ban." so all I am asking is the question about do you NEED to be connected in order to change the gamerpic to one in the files created from this tool? As if you can do this while not connected then there could be something seriously wrong on my end which I would like to sort out.

They are not scanning your HD's, your flashes in your box yes they can and do. I think the content re-signed on your id and tag will be fine just like gamesaves.

Well I did a search and I believe I should apologise, it appears that the HD contents check on the original Xbox was never confirmed (never proven wrong either though), however the theory was sound. Link to a list of theories which were sound confirming only the "Marriage Theory" to be a confirmed method: http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/...FEKFmhSyMB.php. However I do remember on the Xbox-Scene forums at one point a respected guy on the forums posted saying that a set of recent bans which were being discussed were due to a certain file which was present on the C drive of all hard drive installs done with Slayer's EvoX CD.

Well the only things I want to do with this transfer kit and my 360 which are not standard are:
Backup saves to PC so I have a backup if anything gets corrupt (I know this is safe).
Copy FREE themes downloaded from the internet which originally came on OXM discs and such to the HDD, not Live purchased themes.
Copy DLC content which can be installed from a disc like Fallout 3's Operation Anchorage and The Pitt as they are not linked to ID.
      Use gamerpics from this tool.

I have started another topic as I am having a few problems getting these to all work except the gamerpics which appear fine except for what I have said here.
